چکیده

Call admission control (CAC) plays a significant role in providing the desired Quality of Service (QoS) in wireless networks. In this paper, we present some new call admission control schemes: mobility-based call admission schemes and new call bounding schemes, for wireless mobile networks providing services to multiple classes of mobile users ( i.e. pedestrians and vehicular travelers). Since the salient feature of wireless mobile networks is the mobility, an ongoing call in one place may have potential impact on the resource usage in another place in the future, the concept of influence curve is introduced to characterize such influence that an ongoing call exerts on the adjacent cells, according to which the channel reservation can be adjusted dynamically and mobility-based call admission control schemes can be designed. To overcome potential congestion, we also propose a new call bounding scheme which places a direct limitation on the number of new calls admitted to a cell. Four CAC schemes are proposed and analyzed via analytical modeling and simulation study. It is shown that our schemes are more effective in providing QoS than other previously known schemes. Call admission control in mobile cellular networks: a comprehensive survey

Call admission control is a key element in the provision of guaranteed quality of service in wireless networks. The design of call admission control algorithms for mobile cellular networks is especially challenging given the limited and highly variable resources, and the mobility of users encountered in such networks. This article provides a survey of admission control schemes for cellular netw...

Guard Channel based Call Admission Control Schemes in Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 Networks

Call Admission Control (CAC) strategies are required to guarantee all service types meet their quality of service (QoS) requirements in wireless broadband mobile networks. Although much research focuses on modified Mobile IP to get better efficient performance, there are few papers to discuss admission control when considering handover and mobility management. CAC should be introduced to Mobile...

Mobility-Based Predictive Call Admission Control and Bandwidth Reservation in Wireless Cellular Networks

This paper presents call admission control and bandwidth reservation schemes in wireless cellular networks that have been developed based on assumptions more realistic than existing proposals. In order to guarantee the handoff dropping probability, we propose to statistically predict user mobility based on the mobility history of users. Our mobility prediction scheme is motivated by computation...

Call admission control schemes and performance analysis in wireless mobile networks

Call admission control (CAC) plays a significant role in providing the desired quality of service in wireless networks. Many CAC schemes have been proposed. Analytical results for some performance metrics such as call blocking probabilities are obtained under some specific assumptions. It is observed, however, that due to the mobility, some assumptions may not be valid, which is the case when t...

Intra-cell and Inter-cell Mobiltiy Based Admission Control in Mobile Wireless Networks

One of the key technologies used in broadband wireless networks, such as HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) and mobile WiMAX networks, is link adaptation. Link adaptation is implemented by an Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) scheme which adapts a user’s transmission data rate to its radio conditions on its channel quality feedback to optimize resource utilization. In wireless network...
